Knight Optical supply a range of custom wedge prisms. Custom wedge prisms are generally quite thin and the input and output faces are nearly parallel. A beam of light passing through a wedge prism is deviated by an angle determined, to first order, by the wedge angle and the refractive index. The refractive index does of course vary slightly with wavelength. These custom wedge prisms can be used to give small controlled variations in beam direction and in pairs can quite accurately control the direction of a beam.
Our custom wedge prisms are available in UV-Visible and NIR materials to suite most scientific instrument applications. Custom UV grade wedge prisms can be made from Calcium fluoride or UV grade fused silica that work efficiently at 175nm and transmit 85% @ 185nm
