Mica Retarders

Due to its close to perfect basal cleavage, custom mica retarders can be made at a much lower cost than their quartz counterparts. We offer AR coated or uncoated glass laminated Mica, but can also supply bare mounted Mica where required.

One may require a quarter-wave plate if they needed to convert linear polarisation to circular, or a half-wave plate to change the direction of linear polarisation. Quarter wave plates could be used alongside a linear polariser in order to stop light reflected from outside surfaces whereas a variable-ratio beam splitter can be made should you combine a half wave plate with a polarising beam splitter cube.
