The polarisers are used to divide the s and p beams from the input beam. This is achieved by a, for example, thin film coating on a suitable substrate that reflects the s beam and transmits the p beam. Separation can also be achieved by the use of suitably shaped prisms, such as Wollaston or Rochon arrangement. Wire grid polarisers are used for the wide bandwidth of 2-30µm. The wire grid polariser is ideal for high -energy lasers.
Knight Optical stock Calomel Wollaston and Glan-Foucault type infrared polarisers. Calomel exhibits a strong birefringence and is an ideal material for infrared spectroscopy and microscopy, MWIR applications and laser polarisation. Custom calomel optical components are available.
