Laser Mirrors

Dielectric mirrors for laser technologyKnight Optical supply custom laser mirrors for use at specific laser lines from the UV (200 to 400nm) to the IR (1to 40µm) wavebands. The laser mirrors that are custom made include the following range:

Laser mirrors comprise; YAG at high power, excimer at high power, argon-ion at high power, and diode & broadband. These mirrors are made from vacuum depositing thin films of material that have differing refractive indices and thickness onto suitable substrates. Typical custom laser mirror substrates are calcium fluoride, germanium, sapphire, fused silica and Zinc Selenide which produce a high efficiency reflecting surface at the laser wavelength. The coatings are assembled assuming that the mirror will be working in the plane of incidence. This is essential as any off-axis angles will push the pass band toward the shorter waveband that could be beyond the pass band for one or both polarizations (s and p). If off-axis reflections are needed, such as at 90°, then this coating needs to be applied for an Angle of Incidence (AOI) of 45°.

Custom argon-ion laser mirrors – high power grade:
Knight Optical supply custom argon-ion laser mirrors for use at the typical wavelengths, namely: 250.5 ± 6.5, 304 ± 4, 357.5 ± 6.5, 493 ± 35nm. The thin films are assembled for an angle of Incidence (AOI) of 0° and 45°. The vacuum deposited thin films deposited on custom argon laser mirrors are designed to withstand a high damage threshold, with minimum scattering and absorption. This is accomplished by having a stable substrate, such as UV grade fused silica, very high surface quality, and high surface accuracy. These custom argon laser mirrors are made to order and can be assembled into a custom laser mirror kit with, for example, other laser lines of interest.
Custom Excimer laser mirrors – high power grade:
Knight Optical supply a range of custom Excimer laser mirrors for use at the typical wavelengths, namely: 193, 248, 308, and 351nm. The thin films are assembled for an angle of Incidence (AOI) of 0° and 45°. These thin films are designed to withstand a high damage threshold, with minimum scattering and absorption. This is accomplished by having a stable substrate, such as UV grade fused silica, very high surface quality, and high surface accuracy. These custom excimer laser mirrors are made to order and can be assembled into a custom laser mirror kit with, for example, other laser lines of interest.
Custom YAG laser mirrors – high power grade:
Knight Optical supply a range of custom YAG laser mirrors for use at the following typical wavelengths, with Nd as the dopant, namely: 266, 355, 532, and 1064nm. The thin films are assembled for an angle of Incidence (AOI) of 0° and 45°. It is possible to supply custom dual band filters that reflect the fundamental laser line and the frequency doubled line, 1.064µm and 532nm respectively. We can also supply custom Yag laser mirrors that have a specification that will reflect, for example, the lines, 1.064µm and 532nm. The vacuum deposited thin films are designed to withstand a high damage threshold, with minimum scattering and absorption. This is accomplished by having a stable substrate, such as fused silica, very high surface quality, and high surface accuracy.

The diagram in “docs & drgs” show the s and p polarization for 0° and 45° AOI. The mirrors are made to order and can be assembled into a custom laser mirror kits with other laser lines of interest.

Custom diode & broadband (Ti:Sapphire) laser mirrors:
Knight Optical supply custom diode & broadband laser mirrors for use at the typical wavelengths, namely: 405, 635 – 670, 785, 880, 1480, 1550nm for the diode and 700 to 1100nm for the Ti:Sapphire broadband laser. In addition, other custom wavelengths are available, such as; 455, 487, 589, 656, 808, and 1064nm. The thin films are assembled for an angle of Incidence (AOI) of 0° and 45°. The vacuum deposited thin films deposited are designed to withstand a high damage threshold, with minimum scattering and absorption. This is accomplished by having a stable substrate, such as UV grade fused silica, very high surface quality, and high surface accuracy. Many other laser wavelengths are available as diode pumped solid state lasers expand in number, become smaller, and commercially viable.

Knight Optical supply high quality custom diode and Ti:Sapphire laser mirrors, custom Yag mirrors, custom excimer laser mirrors and custom argon-ion laser mirrors to your exact specification.  Every component is individually tested on our Agilent Cary 5000 spectrophotometers fitted with UMA and DRA devices which operates from 175nm to 3200nm. Our UMA accessory can test reflection and transmission at any angle of incidence (AOI) Our Agilent 660 FTIR spectrophotometer is used for testing spectrums between 3.5µm and 45µm. All tested by our highly skilled technicians in our state of art metrology lab to ensure all components meet our high quality standards.
