Plate Beamsplitters
Knight Optical supply a comprehensive range of custom plate beamsplitters for use in the UV, visible, NIR, and IR wavebands.
Our Custom plate beamsplitters are available in various quality and R/T ratios. Custom standard ranges of beamsplitters
are manufactured from sheet white float glass substrates and generally available in thickness of 1,2 and 3mm thk. Our custom quality grade beamsplitters are precision polished substrates manufactured from suitable material to meet required wavelength performance. The custom precision ranges have two extremely parallel and flat surfaces with high degree of surface scratch dig quality. One surface is coated with a thin film that reflects and transmits the required ratio, such as 25/75 to 75/25. The second surface is anti-reflection
to minimise the reflection and the double image in the reflection plane. The coatings are designed for use at 45° and to have a broad bandwidth that covers the wavelengths of interest, for example, UV, visible, or NIR and FIR wavelengths.
We also offer a custom economy grade beamsplitters which are cost effective alternative to other grades of beamsplitters, useful for lower tolerance applications such as applications such as lighting, entertainment
and autocue prompting applications for conferencing.
Our custom precision ranges have a single layer TiO² coating but do not have an AR coating on the second face as standard. The beamsplitter coating is applied to soda-lime float glass and therefore works efficiently in the visible spectrum. The surface quality of these beamsplitters is lower than other types and the split ration will vary more with wavelength.
Knight Optical are able to supply custom beamsplitter sizes and shapes up to 900x730mm. We can apply this coating to a pre-AR coated sheet therefore offering a large 900x730mm AR coated beamsplitter to eliminate double image and ghosting effects.
Every component is individually tested on our Agilent Cary 5000 spectrometers fitted with a UMA device for testing coatings in transmission and reflection at any given angle. We also have a DRA device fitted for testing complex beamsplitter components. Our Agilent 660 FTIR spectrometer is used for coatings between 3.5µm and 45µm. All tested by our highly skilled technicians in our state of art metrology lab
to ensure all components meet our high quality standards.
