Our metrology laboratory is equipped to test almost every precision optical specification and is staffed by a team of skilled and qualified technicians. The laboratory follows Knight Optical’s ISO9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems and the surveillence audits undertaken by an accredited registrar. Our customers can be confident that all their optical solutions & parts are accurately tested and delivered to specification.

Varian Cary 5000 Spectrophotometer

  • For testing reflection/transmission % of coatings and materials
  • Scan range from 175nm-3200nm
  • Measures up to 4 Abs
  • Agilent UMA attachment for 360° testing  of complex cube beamsplitters and reflectivity

Varian Cary 660 FTIR Spectrophotometer

ZYGO Verifire XPZ Interferometer System + Radius Slide

  • Provides fast, low uncertainty form and transmitted wave front measurements of flat and spherical surfaces accurate to 1/20 waves.
  • ZYGO’s MetroX software offers a wide range of operational features and data analysis tools for unmatched measurement capability and reporting

FISBA Interferometer

  • Phase-measuring 100mm aperture interferometer system
  • For non-contact, high speed measurement of surface flatness
  • Objective and precise measurement of surfaces and wave front quality

Trioptics PrismMaster

  • High speed electronic autocollimator with ultra precise motorized rotation
  • Fully automatic angular measurements on prisms, beamsplitter cubes and polygons

Trioptics Optispheric with Wavesensor Reflex

  • Universal test station for lenses and optical systems
  • Fast measurements of Back Focal Length, Effective Focal Length, Radius of Curvature, Modulation Transfer Function and Flange Focal Length.
  • Fitted with a motorised V-Block accessory for testing centration errors.

Starrett AV300 Video Imaging System

  • Non contact dimensional metrology with a resolution down to 0.0001mm
  • Automated processes for inspection of components allowing us to test large volumes of optics
  • Dimensional data for complex component geometry
  • Bright and dark field illumination providing robust measurement for even the most challenging surfaces
  • Capacity up to 300mm in length

We also own a broad range of mechanical measurement equipment such as micrometers and Vernier callipers that are regularly calibrated to ensure accuracy.
