Knight Optical Reflects on a Stellar Experience at Space Tech Expo Europe
29th Nov 2024This time last week, we were returning from an exhilarating, photon-fuelled trip to Space Tech Expo Europe. With over 8000 industry experts in attendance, this year’s event provided the perfect platform to forge brand-new connections and explore fresh collaborations in the fast-moving field of space.
From pioneering small satellites, AI, and robotics to advanced telecom technologies, EU space law, and supply chain resilience strategies, Space Tech Expo Europe was a vibrant showcase of ingenuity and expertise.
For us, collaboration took centre stage, with on-stand influential conversations sparked between engineers, designers, and manufacturers of cutting-edge spacecraft and their associated systems. Discussions regularly circled back to essential optical components like custom domes, precision filters, high-performance lenses, prisms, and durable optical windows – each playing an integral role in the success of the many applications on display throughout the three-day event.
Reflecting on his experience at the show, Connor Anderson, our Technical Sales Account Manager, shared: “Space Tech Expo Europe was an incredible experience. Simply being in Bremen, known as the ‘City of Space,’ and sharing the arena with organisations like the European Space Agency (ESA) and the UK Space Agency was a fantastic opportunity to reinforce the UK’s role in the global space industry.
“It’s really inspiring to work alongside companies in the space sector, where we not only get to observe groundbreaking advancements but also play an active part in shaping the optical systems that drive them. From laser communication and LiDAR to quantum photonics and astronomical instruments, the progress being made is nothing short of extraordinary.”
Overall, Space Tech Expo Europe was a reminder of how our long-term partnerships and high-precision products drive progress in an industry that never stands still.
