Knight Optical is able to supply custom optics for use in the IR (1to 20µm) wavebands. The optical beamsplitters that are available to custom order, range include:
The IR beamsplitters are made from, for example, Calcium Fluoride, Zinc Selenide, Germanium, and Gallium Arsenide. They are usually inclined at 45° to the angle of incidence with one beam being reflected off the first surface and the other transmitted. The transmitted beam will also reflect from the second surface, and could produce a ghost image off-set from the first reflected beam. It is usual to have this second surface wedge relative to the first surface by a about 10 minutes of arc. This has the effect of reflecting the ‘ghost’ image away from the first beam. Polarisation of the beam before and after the beamsplitter needs to be checked to ensure that energy is not being lost. The beamsplitters a nominal 50% transmission / reflection across the 2-8µm range for CaF2, 7-14µm for ZnSe, however other custom beamsplitter split rations can be manufactured to your specific requirement.
Knight Optical supply high quality IR Beamsplitters optical components made to our exacting specification. Every component is individually tested by our highly skilled technicians in our state of art metrology lab to ensure all components meet our high quality standards.
