Chalcogenide glass offers broad transmission wavebands covering SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR thermal wavebands. It makes a cost-effective alternative to germanium for many applications, offering high performance for demanding applications.

Precaution: Please note that SCHOTT IRG glass should be handled with care due to its potential toxicity (please refer to each materials SDS, however IRG27 is classed as toxic), sensitivity to moisture, and relatively soft surface. Improper handling can lead to contamination, surface degradation, or scratches, so using gloves, keeping components dry, and avoiding mechanical damage is essential to maintain performance and safety. Please store in a low humidity environment and avoid long exposure to UV light.
