White float glass windows are a cost-effective, medium-performance option suitable for various scientific, display, and lighting applications. Cut from large, flat, and parallel sheets, they are available in standard thicknesses down to 1mm, with thinner options available by special order. As no polishing is required—unlike N-BK7 or similar materials—white float offers significant cost advantages.
These windows efficiently transmit light from 320nm to 2600nm. Without an antireflective (AR) coating, a small residual reflection may be present; AR-coated versions are recommended where minimal reflection is required.
Knight Optical offers coated and uncoated white float glass windows:
- AV8 – Single Layer AR < 1% R(avg) @ 425-680nm – one or both sides coated.
- ITO coated – vacuum-coated to 20ohm.
An ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) coating is an electrically conductive coating for aerospace, defence, EMI shielding, display, and heating applications.
