Optical Diamond Turning
Diamond turning is used when cutting materials that are viable as infrared optical components and certain non-linear optical components. This process produces surfaces with drastically reduced or eliminated diffraction effects which eliminates the need for post polishing reducing manufacturing time and costs.
Diamond turned reflective, refractive, and diffractive optical systems are manufactured for use in the following applications:
- Military
- Aerospace
- Commercial
- Tactical aircraft targeting
- Night vision
- Missile guidance
- Hyperspectral imagers
- Helmet mounted displays
- Medical
- Analytical instrumentation
- Semiconductor optics
Materials include plastics, metals, crystals and silicon based glasses and ceramics.
