Knight Optical Heads Back to School to Celebrate Professor’s Honourable Career in Optics
8th Jun 2022Last month, Knight Optical, the global supplier of metrology-tested, premium-quality optical components, sponsored a University of Kent celebratory event that applauded Professor Adrian Podoleanu’s honourable career in the invigorating scientific field of optics.
As the Head of the University of Kent’s Applied Optics Group (AOG), Associated Secretary for the scientific society The International Commission for Optics (ICO) and one of the leading Physicists in the UK, Professor Podoleanu has received several special commendations throughout his profession. And, as a member of the same community of interests, Professor Podoleanu’s work remains close to Knight Optical’s heart.
One prominent example is Professor Podoleanu’s award-winning work in developing the field of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Knight Optical is closely associated with imaging techniques, such as OCT worldwide and regularly supplies expert technical advice and ultra-high-precision optical components for a diverse range of these applications, as well as for broader university and research projects for leading establishments globally.
Talking of the event, Knight Optical’s CEO, Colin Overton, concludes:
“To sponsor an event for such an esteemed member of the STEM community and one that took place in Kent, UK, the official birthplace of the Knight Optical brand, is a true honour. We’re excited to learn about additional ground-breaking innovations that are on the horizon for Professor Podoleanu and the Applied Optics Group (AOG) at the University of Kent. Special thanks go out to Dr. Ramona Cernat and Dr. George Dobre, Senior Lecturer in Applied Optics, for all their hard work in organising the event.”
