Knight Optical's stock range of Infrared fused quartz windows are made from JGS3 material. The IR fused quartz is manufactured by the fusion of naturally occurring crystal quartz in an electric vacuum furnace. This process results in a very low water content (OH) of less than 5 parts per million. These IR fused quartz windows have excellent transmission from 260nm thought to 3500nm and low bubble, striae and inclusion content.
Stock windows can be edged down or re-shaped for custom Infrared fused quartz windows at short notice and we can offer them both uncoated or with AR coating for wavelength applications between the useful range of 260nm to 3500nm for increased transmission performance. A more expensive alternative to JGS3 material is Saint Gobain Quartz HS grade. If required for your application please contact our technical team who would be happy to provide a competitive quotation.
Typical processes that we can offer for Infrared fused quartz windows are as follows:
Stock IR grade quartz windows can be edged to smaller diameters.
CNC shaping of IR grade quartz windows to unusual shapes and designs.
Stock IR grade quartz windows can be cut to custom square and rectangular apertures.
Water jet cutting to special shapes and sizes.
Special AR coatings and hot mirror coatings onto IR grade quartz substrates.
Sandblasting of special patterns.
Screen printing.
Edge polishing.
Mounting options.
IR grade quartz to metal seals for gas cells.
Coatings:
Typical coating for IR grade fused quartz is:
Multi-layer, anti-reflective coating < 0.5% @ 248 - 400nm
