The Aspheric surfaces on aspheric lenses allow single elements lenses to achieve near-diffraction-limited performance even when large apertures are used. Aspheric lenses therefore can replace complex and bulky multi-element lens designs as in camera objectives.

Custom Aspheric lenses can be supplied in precision grade form either in plastic or glass where surfaces can be diamond turned or made using modern polishing techniques with very good figure and form.
