Crystal Polarisers

Our un-mounted Glan-Tayor polarising prisms give an excellent extinction and high transmittance over a wide wavelength range. They come in different forms, with the polished side faces form proving useful as a polarising beamsplitter or for high powers. The high transmittance type, which also has side windows, have all four surfaces at Brewster’s angle for the transmitted beam, so losses due to reflection are negligible.
A cemented type, the Wollaston polarising beamsplitter, deviates the two polarisation components of a beam at angles ±10 degrees from the input direction, with a small chromatic dispersion. We stock both un-mounted and flanged clevis mounted crystal polarisers.
